Tampa, FL - Local art professionals Jose Gomez and Annie Rosse Gonzalez have created Tampa's newest art gallery, House of Shadows Creative Gallery and Market, set to open its first exhibit in May 2021. With so few Tampa-based galleries left in the aftermath of COVID-19, the founders of House of Shadows hope to be a part of what they believe will be a renaissance within the art community. The gallery, located near downtown Tampa on West Kennedy Blvd, is focused on "the magic of human emotions, passions, fantasies, and the entire range of our individual and collective experiences." It consists of three sub-galleries and a retail market for local artisans and vendors to consign their works.
"The pandemic has dramatically impacted the art industry and created a vacuum that artists have been living in for the last year," commented Jose Gomez, proprietor of House of Shadows. "We are excited about the opportunity to showcase the works that have come out of this unique time in history and to be a part of a rebirth that will undoubtably be remembered for the creative ways humans coped with everything from isolation to our victorious emergence."
House of Shadows held a preview opening in March 2021 to provide the art community a look at its space, now also visible in pictures and videos on its website, https://www.houseofshadowstampa.com. The gallery has already issued the call to artists for its first major exhibition, Out of the Dark. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Shortly afterwards, the gallery will be debuting a photographic art collection by local artist Jim Miller called The Transmutation of Souls on May 29, 2021. Monthly events, workshops, and meetings will also be a part of House of Shadows' regular schedule. Among those meetings, House of Shadows will be the official meeting place for the Tampa Bay Society of Photographic Artists, a nonprofit organization founded by Gomez, Gonzalez, and other local photographic artists in 2016.
